Terms & Conditions — Miggo’s Camp (Kosi Bay Mouth)

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern bookings and stays at Miggo’s Private Camp near the Kosi Bay Mouth entrance (iSimangaliso Wetland Park, KZN, South Africa). By making a booking you accept these Terms on behalf of your whole party.

1) Quick summary
Exclusive-use: one booking = your group only (currently 4–8+ guests; and expanding).
BYO camping: bring your own tents, bedding, camp chairs, cooking kit and food.
Facilities: camp braai/BBQ, fire pit and kitchen prep area, communal hot showers, clean drinking water; one private rustic toilet, basin and cold shower per stand.
Stands: 4 total roughly 7m × 3.5m leveled sand stands (side-boarded) with 6 wooden anchor poles around each; and four larger general camping sites.
Power & lighting: no electricity at stands; one plug point near the kitchen area for low-draw charging (phones/power banks). Two spotlights light most of camp at night—bring headlamps/torches.
Access & parking: high-clearance/4×4 recommended; parking for 2–3 vehicles (max 4 by arrangement). Rooftop tents welcome.
Location: quiet coastal-forest valley, just a short drive or a beautiful 1 hour walk to Kosi Bay Mouth.
Guiding: Stays include optional guided experiences; which require extra fees.
Minimum stay: typically 2 nights (may be longer in peak/turtle season).
No Wi-Fi; limited mobile signal. Pets not allowed (protected area).

2) Definitions
“We/Us/Our”: Miggo’s Private Camp.
“You/Your/Lead Guest”: the person who makes the booking and accepts responsibility for the party.
“Party”: all guests on the booking.
“Exclusive-use”: only your party occupies the camp during your dates (no shared groups).
3) Booking, payment & confirmation
3.1 How to book. WhatsApp +27687300323. Provisional holds are time-limited.
3.2 Deposit. A 50% deposit secures your dates (unless stated otherwise on your quote).
3.3 Balance. Due 14 days before arrival (or on the timeline shown in your FreeToBook confirmation). Late/non-payment may cancel your booking.
3.4 Pricing & currency. Prices are in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT where applicable. We may adjust displayed rates for obvious errors.
3.5 Payment methods. EFT only. Bank charges/FX fees are for your account.
3.6 Lead Guest responsibility. The Lead Guest confirms all party members accept these Terms and supplies accurate guest details (names, ages where required, vehicle count, special needs).
4) Capacity, exclusive-use & visitors
4.1 Capacity. Current maximum 8+ guests (exclusive-use), and expanding.
4.2 Stands open. 8 stands exist; 4 stands have private toilets.
4.3 Visitors/day guests. Not permitted without our written approval (exclusive-use and safety limits apply).
5) Stands, facilities & BYO requirements
5.1 Bring Your Own tents, bedding, camp chairs, cooking equipment (stove, pots, utensils) and all food & drinks.
5.2 Stands. Each stand is roughly 7m × 3.5m leveled sand with side boards and six wooden anchor poles for extra guy-lines, plus 4 larger general camping stands.
5.3 Toilets & shower. One private rustic toilet per stand (serviced); 2 communal hot showers for the camp.
5.4 Camp amenities. Braai/BBQ, kitchen prep area and fire pit, clean drinking water.
5.5 Power & lighting. No electricity at stands. One shared plug point at the kitchen area for low-draw charging (phones/power banks). Two spotlights light most of camp; bring headlamps for night movement.
5.6 Environmental rules. Do not collect firewood or plants; fires only in the braai/BBQ; dispose of waste responsibly.
5.7 Pets. No pets
5.8 Noise & quiet hours. Keep sound low; quiet hours 22:00–06:00. No amplified music after quiet hours.
6) Access, vehicles & parking
6.1 Access. High-clearance/4×4 is recommended (soft sand and wet conditions possible).
6.2 Parking. 2–3 vehicles comfortably; maximum 4 by prior arrangement. Rooftop-tent vehicles welcome.
6.3 Security. The area is remote; secure valuables and lock vehicles. We are not liable for loss or damage to vehicles or contents.
7) Extra tours & third-party services (why they cost more)
8.1 Turtle nesting/hatching night outings (Nov–Mar) are operated by permitted partners under park rules—limited slots, separate operator/permit fees apply. Sightings are not guaranteed.
8.2 Kayak hire, specialist fishing gear/bait, boat access, and shuttle/transfers (if you lack a 4×4) are third-party services with separate fees.
8.3 Permits & conservation fees (where required) are payable by guests.
8.4 We will quote extras transparently before you commit. Third-party services are subject to their terms and availability.
9) Accommodation-only stays
9.1 You may book exclusive-use accommodation-only (no daily guided experience) at published flat nightly rates for 4/6/8+ guests.
9.2 You can add a day of guiding (subject to availability) at the published day-rate.
10) Check-in/out, minimum stay & children
10.1 Minimum stay: usually 2 nights (may be 3+ nights in peak/turtle season).
10.2 Check-in: from 14:00 (or as stated on your confirmation). Check-out: by 10:00. Early/late by prior arrangement only.
10.3 Children. Families are welcome. The setting is off-grid with open water and wildlife; active adult supervision is required at all times.
11) Health, safety & conduct
11.1 Guided activities involve natural hazards (water, currents, surf, rocks, weather, wildlife). Follow your guide’s instructions at all times.
11.2 Water safety. No lifeguards. Children/weak swimmers should use flotation; choose easy entries; never snorkel alone.
11.3 Fire safety. Fires only in the braai/BBQ. No unattended flames. No collecting firewood.
11.4 Lighting & night movement. Camp has two spotlights; bring headlamps for paths/toilets.
11.5 Alcohol & substances. No illegal substances. Intoxicated guests may be excluded from activities for safety.
11.6 Drones. Not permitted unless explicitly authorized by relevant authorities and pre-approved by us.
11.7 Cultural respect. Fish-kraal zones are living heritage and workspaces. Keep distance, ask before photos, no touching or climbing on structures.
12) Environmental & park rules
12.1 The camp lies near a protected area. You must comply with all park rules, signage and ranger instructions.
12.2 No collecting plants, shells, animals or artifacts. No feeding wildlife.
12.3 Dispose of waste correctly; minimize single-use plastics. Keep noise low—this is a quiet, nature-first experience.
13) Weather, conditions & changes
13.1 Nature-dependent activities. Tides, wind, swell and visibility determine what we can safely do. We may alter timing, route or activity for safety or quality.
13.2 Turtle nights. Operator availability and conservation rules apply; rescheduling may be necessary. No guarantees of sightings.
13.3 Force majeure. We are not liable for failure to perform due to events beyond our control (extreme weather, park closures, strikes, etc.). We will try to offer reasonable alternatives where possible.
14) Cancellations, changes & no-shows
(If your confirmation specifies different terms, those apply.)
14.1 Your cancellation (standard):
31+ days before arrival: 90% refund of monies paid (10% admin).
15–30 days: 50% refund.
8–14 days: 25% refund.
0–7 days or no-show/early departure: no refund.
14.2 Peak/turtle season or group/partner-heavy bookings may carry stricter terms (shown on your quote/confirmation).
14.3 Date changes are subject to availability and may be treated as a cancellation/re-booking if within the penalty windows.
14.4 Our cancellation. If we must cancel (e.g., safety/operational reasons), we will offer a change of dates or a full refund of monies paid to us (liability limited to amounts received for the stay—see §16).
We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellations, medical, evacuation and activity delays.
15) Damage, loss & behavior
15.1 You are responsible for loss or damage caused by you/your party to camp property, equipment or third-party property. A refundable breakage deposit may be requested, and/or we may invoice reasonable repair/replacement costs.
15.2 We may terminate a stay without refund for serious breach of these Terms or unsafe/disruptive behavior.
16) Liability & risk
16.1 You participate in activities and use facilities at your own risk. Natural environments carry inherent hazards.
16.2 To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, our liability is limited to the amounts paid to us for your stay; we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss (e.g., missed travel, third-party costs).
16.3 Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence where such limitation would be unlawful.
17) Complaints & resolution
Raise any issue during your stay so we can address it promptly. If unresolved, email us within 7 days of departure with details and your booking reference.
18) Data & privacy
We collect basic guest and payment data to manage bookings (including via FreeToBook). We do not sell personal data. For more, see our Privacy Policy.
19) Governing law & jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of South African courts (KwaZulu-Natal).
20) Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published at booking time and linked in your confirmation.
