We’re an exclusive-use private campsite near the Kosi Bay Mouth entrance bordering the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Your private guide plans each day around tides, weather and what you’re keen to do. Snorkeling at the “aquarium,” turtle season night walks (Nov–Mar), Thonga fish-kraal culture, kayaking, hiking, birding or fishing. It’s simple, off-grid and real: bring your own tents and cooking gear, and we’ll provide the essentials at camp so you can focus on the experience.

Miggo’s private adventure camp blends rustic charm with just the right amount of comfort.


Book the entire camp for your family or group, and settle into off-grid simplicity near Kosi Bay Mouth. Bring your own tents, bedding, camp chairs, cooking kit and food; we provide the camp braai/BBQ and fire pit, a communal kitchen prep area, rustic toilets a few steps from each site, and communal hot showers. There’s no electricity at individual camp sites (a single plug point at the kitchen area is available for phones/power banks). Your private guide shapes each day’s adventures around the tides, weather and your interests.

Communal Kitchen Area and Braai

Swap stories and prep meals in the relaxed communal kitchen area and Fire up the camp braai/BBQ and fire pit. Guests bring all cooking equipment (stove, pots, utensils) and all food & drinks. A single plug point in the kitchen area is available for light device charging; there’s no power at the sites.

Toilets & Communal Hot Showers

Keep the wild feel with the comforts that matter. Clean, private rustic toilets are just a few steps from each site, and communal hot showers for the camp. Most areas are lit by two spotlights at night, but please bring headlamps/torches for moving between your tent and the facilities after dark.

Is the camp exclusive-use?

Yes. One booking = your group only (4–8+ guests). No shared groups.

Is a private guide included?

Yes. Your booking includes daily private guiding tailored to tides, weather, and your interests (e.g., snorkeling, kraal walks, kayaking, hiking, birding, fishing). Some experiences may require permits/partner operators/gear and are extra (e.g., turtle season).

What should we bring? (BYO camping)

Bring tents, bedding, camp chairs, full cooking kit (stove, pots, utensils), and all food & drinks. Also bring headlamps/torches, sun protection, insect repellent, sturdy shoes, and optional snorkel/fishing gear.

What facilities are provided at camp?

A camp braai/BBQ, fire pit and simple communal kitchen prep area, rustic toilets a few steps from each site, and two communal hot showers. There are additional cold showers.

Is there electricity or charging?

There’s no electricity at individual camp sites. A single plug point at the kitchen area is available for charging phones/power banks. Most of camp is lit by two spotlights at night—bring headlamps for moving around after dark.

Is drinking water provided?

Yes — we provide clean, safe drinking water from a borehole for guests.

How far are you from Kosi Bay Mouth?

We are just a short drive from the estuary (iSimangaliso Wetland Park), or about an hours slow walk on a beautiful scenic trail.

Do I need a 4×4 to reach the camp?

No - Just a High-clearance vehicle is fine. There are some sandy sections.

When is the best time to visit?

Kosi Bay is year-round:

  • Nov–Mar: Turtle nesting season (night tours with permits)

  • May–Aug: Cooler hiking weather, excellent birding

  • May–Oct (drier months): Lower humidity/fewer mosquitoes

Is the camp suitable for solo travelers and families?

Yes. Solo travellers and couples are welcome—just note it’s exclusive-use, so you’ll be booking the entire camp. Families are welcome; active adult supervision is essential due to the remote, off-grid setting.

Right now we take one exclusive group of up to 8+ guests. We’re expanding to more as renovations finish. If you’re planning a larger group for future dates, please WhatsApp us and we’ll confirm availability and timing.

Where do we get supplies (food, fuel, cash)?

Manguzi (±20–30 minutes’ drive) has groceries (Spar/Boxer), petrol stations, ATMs/airtime, basic pharmacies and hardware. Stock up before arrival, especially for multi-day stays, OR at the large general dealer at the Kosi Bay border post nearby.
